Chef Michael Mongeon
Chef Mike calls himself a Berkshire County “lifer”. The 2009 graduate of UMASS Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management grew up in a culinary family. He began working under his Dad, Chef Steve Mongeon when he was young and says, “I fell in love with the business!”. He has spent 15 years cooking for fine dining restaurants and catering many parties and events for other Berkshire County residents and guests. For the last 10 years Mike was the executive chef for the Berkshire Crowne Plaza hotel where he oversaw the food and beverage operation that took in over $1.5 million in annual revenue.
Starting with the 2017 season, Chef Mike brings his restaurant and catering business, KJ Nosh, to Wahconah CC’s members and guests. Chef Mike’s menus take inspiration from familiar “comfort food” choices prepared with quality and seasonally available ingredients. If you’re grabbing a quick bite before your round, a burger or wrap “at the turn” or joining family or friends for dinner Chef wants you to enjoy every bite and have a great food experience. Coming soon, preview his menu offerings on the WCC website.
Here’s a couple of fun tidbits about Mike … he appeared on the 2013 Live Chopped Competition against Chef Robert Irvine of the Food Network. And in 2014 Mike was named one of the top up and coming chefs as he appeared in Hotel Food & Beverage Magazine. In his spare time he enjoys golfing and boating. He is an avid fan of Boston sports teams. And he spends all the time that he can with his family.
As the 2017 season opens, you’ll start to see Chef Mike around the clubhouse with the restaurant opening sometime in April. Mike intends to be as visible and approachable as possible and looks forward to meeting our members and guests throughout the season.
